Sharsheret partners with Cedars-Sinai for Sharsheret in the Kitchen healthy living program
In partnership with Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Sharsheret — the non profit that provides breast and ovarian cancer support to Jewish women and their families — is growing its Sharsheret in the Kitchen (SITK) program.
Launched in 2020, SITK initially provided webinars designed to help patients by addressing nutrition associated with the Jewish holidays. Today, it has grown to incorporate everyday kosher and healthy recipes created by food influencers. Kosher in the Kitch! blogger Nina Safar, food author and holistic health counselor Pamela Salzman, and award-winning cookbook writer Adeena Sussman and her sister Sharon Wieder are among the influencers in this year’s series and available to everyone online.
And beginning on Oct. 30, SITK will introduce its free nutrition coaching program, helping those with breast or ovarian cancer receive additional tools to make healthy diet choices.
The program will be available to 40 women and men facing hereditary risk for breast or ovarian cancer, as well as those in treatment or those who are survivors. Participants can sign up to work with Rachel Beller, founder of the Beller Nutritional Institute, in her eight-week Transformation Masterclass, or one-on-one nutrition coaching sessions with Tamar Rothenberg of Nutrition Nom Nom. Only L.A. County participants are eligible for the series. Participants who complete the program will also receive a grocery gift card.
“Sharsheret’s role in disseminating tools for healthy living to Jewish families facing breast and ovarian cancer…has never been more important,” said Jenna Fields, Sharsheret California regional director. “We’re seeing that as the pandemic persists, the demand for online nutrition content continues, and our partnership with Cedars-Sinai will allow us to address the demand for virtually accessible and culturally appropriate nutrition support to our cancer community.”
